Amazon's 2040 climate pledge collides with a 33-million-ton gas plant
Amazon confirmed it purchased GW Ranch, a Texas gas plant permitted to emit up to 33 million tons of CO2, more than the largest coal plant in the country. The project feeds a new AI data center and sits awkwardly next to Amazon's pledge to be carbon neutral by 2040.
