Customize your seaplane and island home in Lou's Lagoon this August

Lou's Lagoon, a flight adventure from indie studio Tiny Roar, lands on PlayStation 5 on August 27. The developer shared a new gameplay walkthrough on the PlayStation Blog and announced a Deluxe Edition with extra items for early personalization.

The game leans into the PS5's hardware. The SSD keeps load times short, dropping you into the Limbo archipelago quickly. The DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers make exploration, crafting, and gathering feel more tactile. The 4K HDR display keeps the tropical islands crisp and colorful.

Customization is at the heart of Lou's Lagoon. You create a young pilot searching for a missing Uncle Lou. The character creator offers choices for hairstyles, eyebrow shape, skin tone, facial hair, eye color, and facial markings. Outfits unlock as you progress, and shops let you change your look anytime. The seaplane is similarly customizable: completing aerial challenges earns new parts and spray paints, letting you turn a plain plane into something flashy.

Your home island gives you even more room to experiment. Early on, you get a small island to develop. You can build and design a house from scratch, adding furniture and decorations. The game lets you expand gradually, whether you prefer a small beach shack or a sprawling seafront house.

The archipelago has distinct communities. Tanglebloom, a flower-shaped island, is the liveliest town, home to the Charneys. After a storm, you help them rebuild their businesses and uncover mysteries. Boulderia sits on the back of a giant crab and is inhabited by grumpy Gorplins, who mine and eat sugar crystals. Both islands hint at deeper secrets beyond what first appears.

The Deluxe Edition, available alongside the Standard Edition, includes a Lifeguard outfit for your character, a bubble-engine upgrade for your seaplane, and a set of beachside items with a bubbly surprise. The video walkthrough shows off these items and more customization options.

Lou's Lagoon lands on PS5 on August 27. With its deep customization, distinct characters, and thoughtful use of PS5 features, the game fits as a low-stakes retreat into the Limbo archipelago.
