Marvel's Wolverine locks September 15 release date with a raw new story trailer

Insomniac Games has finally put a date on its next superhero epic. Marvel's Wolverine will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026, the studio revealed during a San Diego Comic-Con panel. The story trailer sets a different tone from the studio's Spider-Man games: a raw, personal confrontation, with an enraged Logan facing Jean Grey in a moment of vulnerability.

The trailer introduces two major threats: The Hand, the shadowy ninja clan, and Deathstrike as a central villain. New art shows Logan taking on The Hand in their trademark red, which hints at a shared history players will piece together.

The panel featured creative director Marcus Smith, game director Mike Daly, senior project director Jess Reiner-Reed, and narrative director Walt Williams, joined by voice actors Liam McIntyre (Logan) and Krizia Bajos (Jean Grey), and Marvel Games executive producer Eric Monacelli. A digital prequel comic by Williams and illustrator Luke Ross is available now for those who want to prepare for the story. It covers Logan's fraught relationship with members of Team X and his mission to protect mutant kind. The comic is an SDCC giveaway in print and can be read online via Marvel Unlimited.

Music and collaborations

The game's score is by composer David Fleming, and the music adapts to Wolverine's globe-trotting journey. A full soundtrack releases on August 28, 2026, with one track available to preview now.

Insomniac announced a collaboration with Arc System Works, the studio behind MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Players who progress through Marvel's Wolverine can unlock a suit from that game on day one. In return, Wolverine's Battle Reborn suit from Insomniac's game will be free for all MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls players starting September 1, 2026.

Pre-order and editions

Marvel's Wolverine is available for pre-order now on the PlayStation Store in Standard and Digital Deluxe editions. The Standard Edition can also be pre-ordered via PlayStation Direct. The game is a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
